Under ₹20 lakh

The VinFast VF 6 starts at ₹18.19 lakh ex-showroom for the Earth and ₹19.59 lakh for the Wind. It is a five-seat compact SUV that earned five stars in Bharat NCAP, with seven airbags and a 360° camera on every variant. The Wind adds Level 2 ADAS, ventilated front seats, a head-up display and dual-zone climate control. The Wind Infinity, at ₹20.09 lakh, adds a panoramic glass roof.

Under ₹25 lakh

• VF 7 Earth, ₹22.99 lakh. A larger five-seat SUV with a 59.6 kWh battery and 438 km of ARAI range, five stars in Bharat NCAP, ventilated front seats and a head-up display.
• VF MPV 7, ₹20.39 lakh. Seven seats with third-row AC and 517 km of ARAI range. It has four airbags and has not yet been crash-tested by Bharat NCAP.

What to compare on any electric SUV

1. Crash-test rating. Look for a Bharat NCAP or Global NCAP score for adults and children.
2. Airbags and driver-assistance features. Check what comes standard, not just on the top variant.
3. Real-world range, not only the ARAI number.
4. Battery and vehicle warranty, and what happens after it ends.
5. Service network near you.
6. Charging at home. Can you install a charger at your parking spot?
