VinFast in India: plant, models, network and what it means for buyers

Made in India

VinFast's first factory outside Vietnam opened in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu, on 4 August 2025, on a 400-acre site. It can build 50,000 cars a year at first, and up to 150,000 later. Around the end of May 2026 it built its 10,000th India-made VinFast.

The models

• VF 6: a compact five-seat SUV from ₹18.19 lakh
• VF 7: a five-seat SUV from ₹22.99 lakh, with an all-wheel-drive Sky
• VF MPV 7: a seven-seat electric MPV from ₹20.39 lakh
• Limo Green: the fleet version of the MPV

Safety and awards

In January 2026, the VF 6 and VF 7 both earned five stars in Bharat NCAP. The VF 7 also won EV SUV of the Year at the BBC TopGear India Awards 2026, and the VF 6 won Value for Money Car of the Year at the Autocar India Awards 2026.

Sales and network

VinFast registered 2,964 electric cars in India in September 2026, which made it the fourth-largest electric car brand in the country. By August 2026 it had 60 outlets, and it aims for 75 dealerships in more than 60 cities by the end of 2026. A large share of its volume is fleet cars, notably the Limo Green taxis run by Green SM, so retail demand is a smaller part of those totals.

• Assured buyback of up to 75% of the ex-showroom price after two years (conditions apply)
• Free charging at V-Green stations until 31 March 2029
• 10-year battery warranty on every car
